Phillip Phillips's Surgery Recovery Had Him 'Going Crazy'

“I still love to sleep, but it’s been kind of hectic,” Phillips, 21, told reporters on Wednesday of his recovery process following the surgery he had earlier this month to remove kidney stones. “I’ve kind of been going crazy just looking at the four walls surrounding me.”

Although he’s finally been able to pick up a guitar again, the crooner says that’s about the only activity he’s been able to take part in since going under the knife.

“I haven’t been able to do anything too much,” Phillips told reporters while promoting the American Idol Live! Tour, which kicks off July 6 in Detroit. “I’ve just been laying in the bed [and have had] a couple nice dinners, but actually I haven’t been able to do anything. I’ve just been resting and recovering.”

Now that he’s on the mend, Phillips is ready to rock during tour time.

“I’m pretty confident,” he says. “I’m just going to have fun with it … It’s going to go well, I believe.”
